Go on a picnic with friends

There’s nothing better after a long and cold winter than feeling the warmth of the sun on your face and the taste of delicious food on your taste buds. The springtime is a perfect opportunity to get in touch with those friends you don’t see too often and plan a cute picnic at your favorite local park. Make a list of all the food items you would like to be a part of your elaborate picnic spread, and split them up between you and your friends. Make sure to throw some ice packs in the picnic basket and don’t forget to bring a big enough blanket for everyone to sit on!

Ride a bike, take a walk, go on a jog

Everyone knows that exercise produces the happy chemicals called endorphins every time you work out. Therefore, exercising several times a week can improve your mental state and overall happiness throughout that week. Seasonal depression during the winter can be tough. The sky is always cloudy, you haven’t felt the warmth of the sun in weeks or months, and you freeze for a few minutes every time you get into your car- we’ve all been there. Going on a bike ride, walk or jog can help move your body and get those endorphins pumping, lifting you out of seasonal depression and into warm month happiness.

Go to the farmers market

The smell of fresh flowers on a sunny day in spring. The movement of families and friends walking around to take a look at everything. The little kids giving you change while being cashiers for their family businesses. The farmers’ market can turn anyone’s bad day into a day of vibrant plants, home-produced honey, fresh produce and delicious tacos. Whether you go with your family, friends or have a little “me day,” the farmers’ market is the perfect place to spend a spring weekend morning taking adorable photos and spending quality time with the people you love.

Plant a few plants to be ready for summer

I may be biased because I love taking care of my plant babies every day, but planting a few seeds or small plants in the springtime can make for beautiful, blossoming plants when the summer comes around. Start by getting a small planter, rich soil, wildflower seeds and finding a spot for it to reside inside your home until the weather reaches consistently warm temperatures outside. Dig a wide hole a couple inches deep with your hands and drop the wildflower seeds in. Water lightly every day and watch your little garden grow.
